Harmony made guitars | Back to brand list
Brand : Supro (Valco) - (1936-1968) - bodies by Harmony
Guitars shown below were made by Harmony and sold under the Supro (Valco) brand. It doesn't mean that all Supro (Valco) guitars were made by Harmony.
Valco made guitars sold under the various brands, mainly National and Supro (but also Airline, Silvertone..). Some archtop guitars had necks made by Valco and bodies by Harmony.
- Electric Archtop
| 1550A (1951-1960) - Ranchero - Electric Archtop - Sunburst - 18
Supro neck and electronics, Harmony body (stamped H950 inside, so the body should be the same as the acoustic Harmony H950 Monterey Leader) |
- 1590A (1959) - Coronado (full depth) - Electric Archtop - Black - 1
Upper grade 3 pickup (additional piezo pickup in bridge). Full depth body, similar to Harmony H63 or Silvertone 1385, but without f-holes. Six trim pots between the pickups permit fine adjustment of volume and tone for each pickup. Body only was made by Harmony. Electronics, neck and special neck joint by Valco (next year, a different, thin line model was proposed with the same name. See model 1580A).
| 1582 (1959) - Del Mar - Electric Archtop - Blonde - 2
Upper grade electric guitar with 2 pickups. Body made by Harmony, neck and special neck joint by Valco. Triple edge binding. Stamped H51 inside, so one could guess it has the same body as the Haermony H51 of the same period. |
- Electric hollowbody
- 1580A (1960) - Coronado (thin line) - Electric hollowbody - Natural - 3
The body only was made by Harmony. Similar to the thin line H70 Meteor body, but closed hollow body without any f-holes (The year before a different Coronado model was proposed, with full depth body, see model 1590A).
- Acoustic archtop
| H1300 - - Acoustic archtop - 25
This guitar is stamped H1300 inside the body, made by Harmony, while the neck was made by Valco. Check the typical Valco neck joint. Spruce carved top. |
