I cut my teeth on this guitar (H1201T), then we fell out of touch, and I found one 8 years ago in shop and we've been in love ever since! - roskis - 2008-09-29
It's a tenor so the scale is 23". Any longer and standard tenor tuning of CGDA will snap the A string. - Greg - 2008-10-24
I just found one at an estate sale with serial #3332. It's in great shape except for a few nicks and dings and a missing string peg. I bought it as a project and sibling for my 1971 Soveriegn 6 string. - stevie B - 2009-01-14
I found one sitting beside a dumpster, behind a thrift store. Dumpster was full, so I probably rescued it from being crushed, either in the back of the garbage truck or at the dump. It was in it's original canvas gig bag, and both guitar and bag were in surprisingly good condition, only real damage being the bridge was off and split, but all the pieces were there. Serial number 8982H1201. Took me about four years to finally glue the bridge back together and back on the top. Tuned it to standard guitar tuning (GDBE) and it sounded okay- then I tuned it to 5ths (CGDA) and it SANG! I find learning new chord shapes to be manageable, as I am only dealing with four stings. I am having some difficulty finding it's voice in my guitar group, but I have faith it will settle into it's place, and I am enjoying having and playing it. Great to find this Harmony resource. Thanks to the admins. - jvcleve2 - 2009-11-14
Regarding string scale length and tuning controversy...I have an H1201TG that has 23" scale and uses D'addario J66 strings gauges .10 .14 .22 .32 for CGDA tuning but I also have Lark tenor (some would call it a plectrum) with a 26"scale that is tuned CGDA using D'addario gauges .09 .16 .23 .30 ... So longer scales using CGDA tuning is possible. A luthier/setup man can assist. JC - Greg In Baltimore - 2010-10-01
I found one of these in a locate for-sale ad for $30 about 4 years ago. Played it sparingly. Came with the original case and strap. The pick guard had fallen off, but I had a luthier reglue it. Overall it was a nice looking guitar, but it sat unplayed in a closet for over 30 years. Neck was in good shape. Bought with no strings, so the neck was not bowed. Sound was OK, not great. My foremost complaint about it is the nut and bridge were too high for my taste. I had a mandolin (Gibson) and a guitar (Martin) already, so I expected the same action, for lack of better word. Since Harmony tenors are hot these days (2010), I kept it for a couple of years then sold it for a huge profit. I keep looking for another one to do it again.
