H61 - Meteor
Electric hollowbody - Sunburst
Production year(s) : 1971-1972 (other years possible, not verified)
2 large pickups - H61 Meteor appears in the 1971 catalog. It seems to be the same as the previous H60 Meteor but with new "jazz" tailpiece and a 3 ply (b/w/b) overlay on head, and black trussrod cover. Plastic inlays in f-holes. Curiously, the '71 catalog shows a dot neck but all known samples have block inlays as other Meteor versions. The "Harmony Meteor" logo still appears on the head on the catalog's picture but the known samples only have the "Harmony" logo. (To avoid confusion : H61 model number was also used in the fifties for the 1352 Silvertone archtop cutaway with one P13 pickup). Same model was renumbered H661 from 1972.

Hey, I just wanted to say that the first 3 pictures you have are pictures i took of my guitar! I had it on ebay and right after it sold, it was stolen from my house along with some other prized pieces. luckily it was recovered and i'm about to put it back on ebay. The guitar is a H61 made in the Spring of '72 and it has an original factory Hagstrom bridge. I was looking for some more information about it and that's how I stumbled across this site. Keep up the good work! - Jeff - 2007-03-05
I have a H61 on Ebay right now that looks just like this one.. Even missing the tear drop insert in the one hole. Mine is stamped S72 on the inside with DeArmonds that are stamped June of 72. So they made these into 1972 for sure. coo, site. Good info and photos. Thanks, Jeff - Kent - 2009-11-27
Bought one of these at a garage sale for $45, restored the wiring and Knobs for about the same price and it is appraised near $300. Nice sounding and an easy play. Needs a few tuner bushings and it will be fully playable. - harmonius monk - 2012-04-08
hey! I own that guitar now! (the one pictured with the plants) I was just researching what kind of Bigsby to put on it. I bought another one just like it afterward that had almost all the original hardware but it's DeArmond's just didn't have as much power/mojo/tone for some reason so i sold it off to England. (& yes, I set them both up well)
