i just bought a harmony rocket at a garage sale. I found what i think is the serial number (3626H56). It is a very beautiful guitar and it sounds great for as old as it is.

Based upon your description it may be worth anywhere between 300 ~ 650 based on current auction prices on Ebay at the moment. (2007-11-15) Generally, most go towards the higher end of the scale. Harmony guitars and other like models from Chicago have seen a noticable gain in values over the past year. Worth a look as an investment and playing guitar.

I have a 1966 H56. Good condition and all original. Missing a pickguard which I am currently looking for one. Unique sounds from these old guitars!

My H56 (which I thought was an H54) has gold foil pickups, but has an adjustable truss rod. It has been a great guitar ever since I bought it new. Still gig with it occasionally.

I have A Rocket and play it all the time..
It's dated on it, feb 22 1966..if you know about Guitars. you will know where to look for the stamp..It's there. I was lucky to find it.
Last thing, Old Harmony Guitars are worth more now then ever. Just look around and see...

I bought a Harmony Rocket in 1967 as a "Harmony by Heath" kit from Heathkit. Guitar arrived fully finished and complete, except you had to mount the pickups and controls yourself, including soldering the wiring to each. Took about 2 hours to do it myself, and I saved maybe $50 on the price compared to the music store. I traded the guitar in 1972 for one of the last Chicago-made Harmony Sovereign acoustics -- For $50 off the $110 cost of the Soveriegn. Sold the Sovereign in 2003, with slightly damaged headstock, for $280 on eBay. I didn't realize at the time how solidly built Chicago Harmony's were. I now own a 1940s Monterey, fully refurbished, that has amazing volume for an archtop, and draws offers to buy every time my local luthier does a little work on it.

Just got mine today all there all original + original case. Other than having to do a set up n add a jack plate for easier repairs latter on this is an all around fantastic guitar. I traded a Gibson for mine that actually lost its value of $2000 over the span of two years n ill tell you what I'd do it again. I write my own music n do renditions it's songs n so far this guitar is veary versatile from playing Robert Johnson unplugged to playing the Ramones to The Doors or even Green Day. Vary stunning finish and durabull but can't tell if its laqour or shelack. But over all a realy great envestment or airloom

    Hey Josh,
My husband has a Harmony Rocket with serial number 2374H56, so likely made the same day! His was built and purchased in 1966.

I bought the H56 while in H.S. for $150. I traded it in 1976 for an acoustic Epiphone. Sorry as hell I did that!!!

I have a Harmony Rocket #9966H56. Just fixed the vibrato . It plays and sounds great. The action is better than my SG.
