In the summer of 2007 I bought one of these on ebay USA. All original and in great condition. It came with a black chipboard case with blue lining. It's exactly the same instrument as in the pictures. The date of the hershey-bar pickup (the same great pickup as on those '50 Stratotones) says "1966", and that's the only stamp I can find. Is is possible this model was also sold in the mid-sixties? The DeArmond pickup sounds terrific clean and overdriven. Lots of complex overtones and with that fine dynamic response DeArmonds are famous for. I've set the pickup a little closer to the strings for al slightly higher output. I tuned it up with nickel d'Addarios (012-052) and use a fairly high open G-tuning. I can't believe that instruments of this high quality can be so cheap! - jhb294 - 2011-08-20
20 Aug. 2011 Just bought a Harmony Steel. It matches the pictures of the 601 supposedly manufactured in the 70's but the shipping label is dated Dec. of 1965. - jhb294 - 2011-08-20

I have this same (identical) model, and it is dated 1964. - Gary - 2019-10-11
Did not know it was a Harmony. There is no name any where that I can see. Had it for over 20 years still use it in the studio. Glad I found this site. I use to print stuff for Harmony in Richmond Va.
