I have a H-6362, but I'm pretty sure that it's from earlier than 1972, probably 1970, or maybe even 1969. Mine has an unbound Martin-style headpiece with the original white plastic machine-buttons, but is (was) otherwise very similar to the one pictured. It had a hard but enjoyed life through highschool and college, and is now semi-retired. It is worthy of some effort of restoration for its tonal qualities, but it could never be restored to original condition. I have a Regal 6382 looks exactly like the one pictured, I bought off Ebay. unfortunatly it had a bellied top. therefore it was miserable to try and play. but then I read about the JLD BRIDGE SYSTEM, got one and installed it on the old girl and watched the top go flat as new. They also made a model in 1973. I am the original owner of a H6362 and it is stamped inside F-73ML which means it was made in fall of 1973. I have barely used it and it is a gem in mint condition! - dave lindsey central illinois - 2009-05-13

Just bought an H6362 off ebay. It has a solid spruce top but the back and sides are laminate. I replaced the saddle with bone and a cocobola insert. Great sound! My guess is that Harmony was trying out laminates in order to compete with imports during the 1970s. This is evedent with the H6390. - Pine - 2010-09-19
A few weeks ago at a swap-meet I saw the "wierdest" H-6362, and I can tell you, it was straight-out stock from Chicago! This all-solid wood H6362 has the usual solid spruce top, BUT the top was finished with that creamy "fake spruce" paint finish exactly like the H-6659 birch-plywood dreadnought of the era, or the H-6340 birch folk or "000" size, both often sold by Sear's at that time... Perhaps the top grain had too many knots, or somehow was not up to the factory's standards... Anyhow there is at least one H-6362 solid-top covered in that creamy "fake spruce" paint job!! The rosette was the same painted-on "Sovereign-style" rosette used on the H-6659 and some other Harmony's of the 1970's, and the white outer binding and black purfling was carefully masked-off as not to be obscured by the cream-colored finish... Picked an H6362 up a year ago for $50. Bowed neck, tight tuners, played cowboy chords...Then I did a kitchen Luthier for the first time... Fretboard wouldn't hold due to stress...I put a bolt through fretboard, neck and 2 through the reglued bridge...Made the neck bolt so it is adjustable. Also put on a vintage pickup and controls and now it is an absolutely perfect beater. Holds tune and plays crisp. Action is way low. Has a cool Frankenstein vintage look. Maybe not the best way to treat it, but if I didn't come along, it was going to the scrap heap. - Jeromy Akin - 2017-05-13
I have a H6362 with the case with fuzzy yellow felt. Not sure how old it is looks like the ones pictured but the head stock is just black it doesn't have the white trim on it. Serial#4444H6362. Feels and sounds perfect. - Steve W. from NY - 2017-06-01
Bought a very nice 6362 off E-bay for $135 shipped. Owned an older model 162 a few years ago when I was on a Harmony buying frenzy that i think has started again...but anyway wasn't really impressed with anything about that guitar so be gone with her. The only reason i bought this 6362 was because it was in such nice shape for such a low price so I made an offer and got it. Body is almost perfect on it except for a bit of bulge at the bridge...nothing horrible. Neck is straight, frets are as good as it gets, truss rod working. Everything about this guitar was there and in very very nice shape. I read that the adjustable saddles on these guitars actually dull the sound a lot and I can believe that so I decided to get rid of it and made a special brass adapter to fit a normal size pre-made 1/8" thick bone saddle into the rather large 1/4" adjustable saddle slot in the bridge. and bought some new TUSQ bridge pins and D'addario bronze light strings. OMG what a sound this girl makes now! Much more impressed with this guitar now than I was with a Harmony Sovereign 1260...(well actually it was an Airline 7032) that I had for a couple years. Loudness and sustain are amazing. Little on the very bright side but different strings should tune her in to perfection. Man what a deal i got on this one.
