H6395 - Grand Concert

Grand concert size from the seventies. Spruce top. Body looks like solid birch stained with a "faux rosewood" grain. It also has the late narrower fretboard.

  I have one of these H6395 Grand Concert Harmony Guitars. It had one previous owner which I understood he purchased in 1972 which cannot be possible. It is for sale currently on E-Bay. Having seen your site for the first time I think I will keep this guitar which has been fully restored.

  I had this guitar. Is it solid wood? The sound was actually really good, especially for a birch body. Sold it and got an H1260 instead.

  Harmony Grand Concert H6395. All solid wood construction,Solid spruce top,Rosewood back and sides. The Spruce top by my calculations when it was made in 1974,was from a vertical slice of a tree,cut from the flat face of a quarter sawn trunk,two adjacent slices laid side by side,to give a "book matched" grain pattern. This grain pattern is a direct cross section of the annual growth rings.The guitar I have has over 200 growth rings in total,indicating the high quality timber Harmony used in this particular now quite are model. A great guitar from this factory which closed a couple of years later,hence how rare they are.As far as I am aware they were sold only from 1974 to 1976 and were not cheap at the time,$180 in 1974/1975 & $210 in 1976
  Great acoustic mellow sound especially with modern Elixir Nanoverb acoustic strings.

  I just restored my dad's Harmony Acoustic guitar. It's a H6395 model & its date stamp is F-72, so, I believe they did make this model in 1972. My dad received this guitar as a gift in March 1974. It sounds beautiful! Now my husband and I own various brand acoustic & electric guitars (ibanez,gibson,fender, jackson,ion & harmony), but the harmony has such a bright sound to it. It's our go to acoustic guitar by far.

  So is it rosewood or certainly birch? Either way, solid wood not laminated? Interesting guitar but many claim online that theirs has solid rosewood back and sides… so hard to know the truth!
