I bought this guitar in a pawn shop in 1975. It was 2 years old then.
I wanted an Epiphone but couldn't afford one.
It has a slender neck like I wanted and kinda easy to play.
The sound was stale so I bought new strings. I have tried at least 3 different kinds of strings on this guitar and to this day the sound has been dissapointing. Little color and no volume for a big guitar.
New, this guitar sold between $60-$80.00.
I would have gotten rid of it years ago but no one I know was ever interested.

I paid $17.50 in a pawn shop for this guitar. I put new keys on it new strings and cleaned it up. When I bought it it was strung lefthanded and so I kept it that way. I fixed it up with a new nut and bought a case for it. Plays the Blues real fineeee!!!!!!! - Humbooster - 2009-06-04
I just found one of these with the Sears/Roebuck atomic logo, it is in pretty good shape with a nice sound. the number inside looks like 8646H6659, cannot read the production date so far. - Eric - 2009-11-16
I rescued mine 15 years ago from a friend's garage. Had it stored in there for 10+ years. The serial # is 5851H6659. I had to replace the bridge (cracked) and the pickguard came off but other than that its worked fine for me since. I never loved the tone until I put heavier strings on it and tuned it a full step lower. It's not a fancy guitar but I've really grown to love how it sounds and plays. I bought my H-6659 in 1973 for $75. It came with a 25 year guarantee and a case that is probably worth more than the guitar. Serial #1527H6659. Manufacturer date F 73-M that as I read here means that it was made in Fall of 1973. I love this guitar and will take it to my grave. Well, almost. My second daughter has already claimed it in my will. It is my all purpose rugged festival - Christmas - camping guitar. A few years back I left it out in the shed. Even though it was in its case, the moisture got through and caused much of the varnish to peel off. The wood did not crack or warp. I sanded off the loose varnish and now I love the look (wish I could include a picture), tone, and playability (the sanded neck is kind of silky). Guarantee fulfilled. - cody - 2011-01-24

just got mine free from a friend needs new tuner keys,bridge,strings and bridge pins and the paper lable was lable wrong had h5422 so i look for number behind the neck inside and found the h6659 also i notice the h5422 on here shows its a year 85 i thought they stop in 1975 - Nick - 2015-05-28
I actually was given this guitar by my grandmother who bought it when my dad was born (73') she had it in a case for like 30+ years before she gave it to me and the serial # is 8185H1229I i cleaned it up and put some Elixir strings on it and it plays beautifully! The only problem I have is the bridge is cracked but as off now it hasn't caused a issue with the tuning or the sound so I'm not going to replace it until it gets worse. But the neck is the best part of this guitar it is a very high quality neck and it has a great feel while playing! - Luis - 2016-04-27

Found mine in old house in midtown Memphis....put it in my garage not know what it was, decided to look up the numbers inside and found out is was a 72 model...one of the very first...Took it to guitar center to see about having it restored, wasn't in bad condition other then pic guard gone and bridge was coming unglued...spent 150.00 and did a incredible job with it....Plays better then guitars I've spent thousands on! This one will definitely stay with me.
