Just picked one up off ebay which is probably a 44/45 wartime since it has a wooden tailpiece. Cool looking but not much a player. Built solid! Great conversation piece. - musician-fishin - 2007-08-18

Strange guitar. It is stamped H1150 inside both the back and top (also F45 for Fall 1945?) but it is an archtop, 14 frets to the body. Sunburst finish, white plastic binding on top, Kluson open back tuners. A real basket case that I did a so-so repair and refinish to. But it is definitely H1150 and not a flattop panel model. I also have a Archtop sunburst H1150, not flat top. Model number stamped and visible through f-hole, also stamped S45. No-name Headstock but definitely looks to be made by Harmony, great player. Smaller comfortable v-shaped neck profile... not a baseball bat like my early H165. The H1150 is great, but neck joint is coming loose and is going to need a neck reset. I like it enough to have it repaired correctly.
My guess it that they were made by Harmony and distributed through a dime-store as a no-name starter? not really sure why there is not much info on this one otherwise or logo on headstock? - Tom - 2016-10-06

Like a few others who have commented, I have an archtop with an H1150 serial number; this time with year marking F-45 (and the wooden tailpiece consistent with a wartime make).
It looks pretty much like a Monterey to me, though has no name on the headstock.
My guess is that, as the FAQ mentions, sometimes parts were mis-stamped, and that maybe some backs planned for H1150s ended up on Montereys? Or, they were left over when the H1150 went out of production in the early 40s and were used on other guitars instead?
Although that wouldn't account for the one where the top is also stamped H1150. Did they just re-use the model number? It sounds like we have at least three extant H1150 archtops, which seems like a significant population! - Darryl - 2020-07-20
