H930 - Stella (1971)

All birch, floating bridge and metal tailpiece. This is the 1971 updated version of the H929, with added stenciled rosette around soundhole, floral design on pickguard and adjustable plastic bridge. (H930 model number was used before in the fifties, for a different Stella model with horizontal faux-flame and a painted on pickguard).

  I have a model H930 but it only has 4 strings and keys. Also it does not have the metal plate on the bottom - it has a wood holder with plastic plugs to hold the strings. It is not a full size guitar.

  Apparently my Grandfather bought one of these for my dad when he was in junior high (1965-1967), and my dad took 1 or 2 lessons and then it went into the attic in its case. Fast-forward 40 years and my grandfather has passed away, I was helping clean out the attic and found this little beauty in almost new condition. The strings were rusty, but it still held tune and played well with decent action and a great blusey/folksy tone. I took it home and put new strings on it an it's as good as new! I love playing it, it's the perfect size for living room jams or campfires. Works well for slide, too. Great guitar, I couldn't be happier with it.

  I bought my H930 1971 version back in the early 80's at a yardsale or auction for around 5 bucks. Played it for awhile and then it sat in my parents closet until a few weeks ago. Pulled it out, wiped off the dust, bought a new set of steel strings and realized I have forgotten everything I had learned about playing guitar. But slowly getting back up to speed, and enjoying it quite a bit.

  I was 14 when mom got it for me at the villa music store in the mall. I think it was about 45 dollars Wish I still had it cause it played nice enough for a beginner.I wore the rosewood of the first 3 frets What memories.

  I have a number of Stellas/Harmony/Supertone but my 1972 H930 is still my favourite and the one I travel around with. It's rock solid, sounds terrific for fingerpicking, strumming or slide and cost me £99 in the UK (complete with case). Great in conventional tuning or open tunings (I use open G or open D). Best money I ever spent. If you see one, buy it!!

  My Harmony Stella H930 is a Tenor that I tune to the top 4 strings of a 6-string guitar. It has the little white star below the "Stella" and inside is marked F-71 MI. I bought mine at a Yard Sale for under $5, cleaned it up, polished it and installed some medium strings. It plays very well and is a back-up to my other Harmony Tenor, which is an arch-top design. I installed light strings on that one, but am going back to medium. The Arch Top Harmony is my favorite Tenor Guitar!

  I have a H930 in great shape. Stella star below, white guard, metal bridge, horizontal burst. Some nicks on the side but other than that great shape.
