Curious about when made. I got my H943 in 1965 for 80 bucks in a family type furniture store that also sold some musical instruments. How does one find out when the guitar was made? My Stella is identical to the one posted.

Just purchased one restored by Hoffman guitars,Minneapolis.
    Nice beater,couch guitar,GREAT for slide!
Anyone know where I can get replacement tuners(originals work well but are somewhat tarnished)
May need to cannibalize from a basket case :)

Back from 2007 post, I saw the retail price, that furniture store was a rip off store, feed off people...the guitar is better than ever...lost the guitar guard, wonder where one could find one...great site

If you are an adventurous sort, try this for a Gibson-like polish finish. Remove strings, remove pickguard. Wet sand back with 800 grit wet paper, avoiding the edge white paint. Remove sanded powder (it is nitrocellulose) with paper towel often to observe the status. You are trying for a "mostly" smooth and dulled finish, but the birch grain will leave some shiny spots in the "deeps". Polish with a drill with polisher attachment, using a bit of water spray and a polisher product like Rain-x headlight refinisher. See an amazing, awesome result. With the front, same operation, but leave a slight margin near bridge and the fretboard unsanded, and feather the sanding to those areas. Then the polish, and voila! I avoid any sanding or polish on the sides, as it is too easy to "cut" into the white painted edge. You will be amazed at the mirror finish, and I believe it opens the sound slightly as well. Don't oversand, and don't try to get a jump by using coarser paper. WET SAND ONLY!
