It was my first electric and was my only guitar for 6 years. I used it extensively in a number of garage bands. I really loved this guitar and wish I still had it today. - Tom Tracy - 2006-05-09
Got one of these and added: 1) Horseshoe Bigsby (B-5) and grounding wire. Put a block inside to anchor the two screws that didn't hit the tail block and fed a grounding wire through one of those holes. 2) tune-o-matic (the posts luckily happen to hit the block under the bridge area) 3) New Kluson repro tuners and greased the nut It is now another awesome sounding beast that actually stays in tune. This and my S1446 are all I really need. Everybody loves this guitar. - jon mantxi - 2006-11-08
I've got one of this that I buy in mexico DF. They told me it was a harmony because its has no name and wood finish, but the pick ups are like the silvertones. So somebody take off the black finish. It has got dot neck. I play it with a lower tunning throw an old vox conqueror. Its sounds simple and loud, I take off the middle out off phase effect. Its light and funny to play. - James - 2007-02-01
I bought one at a yard sale. they said that it was made in 1957. it's in good shape I've been looking to see what it's worth but i havent found out yet.It has a good sound. So maybe I'll keep it. - Aaron - 2007-02-16

I bought my guitar in 1976 and they told me it was a kay guitar. It was a real find, plus i put into the guitar a les paul jr. pickup. When i bought it there was only one pickup-It was stamped Aug-1962. It has been repainted twice because i like black and the original finish was a wood grain and ugly. I am retsoring it again, I want to put in seymour duncans in and wire it hot. I love the way it feels and the high sustains it can acheieve--keith - Extra Crispy - 2008-04-14
Was my first electric guitar. Very cool black with silver sparkles beneath the finish. Dad bought it for me in 62. As I remember it was a pretty good player. I sure wish i still had it. - Blu-zen-Rick - 2008-05-03
Just by luck, I had a good friend give me one of these guitars about 2 yrs ago,he bought it new in 1963.it is a great sounding "vintage garage" guitar with many tones available through the blender dial. as it is said "one man's junk...,is what I found in a heap of garbage last week and its in better shape, body wise, than my original. I may have to increase the nut height and give it an open tuning for Slide guitar use only. I own 4 now! great site !great comments! PEACE ! - Scott Brennan - 2008-05-24
I just bought one of these things off of ebay. Its been stripped down to its blonde wood color from the black and sparkle finish, and its a looker (Made it dramatically cheaper too, and I prefer it to the black!) The wood is a gorgeous finish, can't believe this was covered up! The sound and feel of this thing is great, I don't think I'll touch my Strat for a few years now. The sound I've been seeking! Can anyone shed any light on how to date this thing?? - Phil P - 2008-06-10
You may have my guitar from college! I stripped the black finish from mine and sanded it down--I too was impressed that the guitar body was actually made of some fine veneer plywood, and the bindings were 4 alternating layers of black and white. I had this instrument from 1970-2, foolishly traded it for some PA mics. I was living in Stockton, CA when I owned it--the guy I bought if from had had it since 1968 or so. I believe it went with the guy I sold it to to LA around 1974. - Scott Brennan - 2008-08-11
Phil P. Thats really cool, I love to get some history on this thing. Wow, what a great site, to get us in touch! I did purchase it from a guy in Cali off Ebay. Sounds like it is your guitar. Send me an email at brennasm@yahoo.com, I'll send you some pics. Scott - Frank K. - 2008-10-20
I just picked one up at a pawn shop for $75.00 with original case, I wasn't sure what it was at first but thought it was cool. It had a few strings missing and the knobs were a bit scratchy......cleaned her up and she is a keeper. Also, the black was stripped down to wood and someone put marks on it where they intended to add some knobs but never did thank goodness. - Dave - 2009-07-15
Excellent overall guitar. Nice and lite, neck is real slim. Love that crazy 60's sparkle finish. The silver foil pickups can go from raunchy to mellow and the blender knob really helps you tailor your tone. I really believe if this guitar had a glued set neck, it would be very comparable to a Gretch Duo Jet, and probably as expensive. I have Gibsons and Fenders and this guitar has its' own personality. It's a Keeper! - Old Geezer Al - 2010-02-12
I am now 66 years old and still play. Own an American Strat and couple acoustics. My mom bought me one of these guitars back in 1960 and I played it in our rock band from Northern Ohio thru 1962. I sold it to a friend but truly miss it! Great little guitar, lots of bass with flatwounds for backing! - Bob T - 2010-04-22
Bought the guitar from Sears in 1959. Played it in college bands. It is very easy to play and with combination of controls you get the sounds you want. I still have it now with worn down frets and the black and gold speckeled paint has peeled off the bottom edge of the body. I don't plan on parting with it. It's still a great player. - Jim in Arkansas - 2010-08-17
My first electric and first decent playing guitar. I used it a couple of years then used it as trade-in on a new Gibson ES-335TDC with Bigsby. Was a great guitar. I bought a model 1472 amp for $59.95 at the same time as this Jupiter and recently sold it for nearly $300!
