picked up a 1403 on ebay. sounds great! Any thoughts or advise on going electric? Thanks in advance. By the way, Great web site! - robodeo - 2010-09-07
Update on the H1403. reamed out the pegholes and replaced the tuners with a more modern set(ones with bushings). Also replaced the wooden tailpiece with a goldtone metal trapeze. Just these minor changes has made an incredible difference in the tone of the guitar. The sustain is absolutely remarkable. More updates later. Oh yeah, forget going electric for now. Maybe a Fishman bridge transducer pickup in the future. - Randall Owen - 2016-07-09
I bought a "Playtime" made by Harmony which I thought was a H1215 Archtop but looking at this I am now sure it is a "Patrician" I was also thinking about the replacing the tuners with newer ones with ferrels and a metal tailpiece. It is stamped with an F-45 and also OH690. I did not think the light colored wood was mahogany, but on an area where the finish color is gone the wood appears reddish. I had this for sale but I think I will keep now. - Randy Applegate - 2018-03-19
