Nickeled tailpiece, floating bridge - Body shape changed from the rounded shape to the later "grand concert" shape in 1957. A "warm red" shaded finish replaced the older brown shaded in 1959. Painted on fret markers, snowflake on early models, then rectangles from 1959. Was then replaced in 1967 by the H941 with a pin type bridge.

H162 - 1940-1971 - Acoustic flatop - Natural Spruce or Cedar top (on some late models) - Stenciled rosette from 1971 - Mahogany version is H165 - older models (before ca. 57') had a different, more rounded "figure eight" body, and a "pinless" bridge. Very early models (before 1942) were sold among the "Master" line, as evidenced by the headstock logo - A very popular model, with at least 30 years of production time !
