SR Sears & Roebuck guitars

Brand : SR Sears & Roebuck - (1969-) - Sears did not used the Silvertone brand after 1970
Distributed by Sears & Roebuck

Guitars shown below were made by Harmony and sold under the SR Sears & Roebuck brand. It doesn't mean that all SR Sears & Roebuck guitars were made by Harmony.

From 1970 Sears no more used the Silvertone brand, and sold guitars with its own "SR" (Sears & Roebuck) logo.

  • Acoustic flatop
    • 1230 - Classic Nylon - Acoustic flatop - Natural - images 15
      It looks like, depending of the period, some SR 1230 models have either been made by Kay or by Harmony. The Kay made models have a more squared headstock shape.
    • 1214 Natural - Flat top (grand concert) - Acoustic flatop - Natural - images 4
      Late model (ca 1972-1974). Faux spruce grained top. Laminated woods. Same model number was previously used for a sunburst all birch model. - (based on Harmony H6340)
    • 1210 - Flat top (standard size) - Acoustic flatop - Natural - images 4
      Standard size all birch guitar. stenciled rosette around sound hole. Position markers at frets 5,7,9,12. Metal tailpiece and adjusting floating bridge with plastic saddle.
    • 1230 (1969) - Classic Nylon - Acoustic flatop - Natural
      It seems that most entry level 1230 models were made by Kay, but some samples were made by Harmony as well (identification : prefix 319 on the model number, printed on back of head).
    • 1214 sunburst (1969-1970) - Flat top (grand concert) - Acoustic flatop - Sunburst
      Birch body, celluloid bound, pin type screwed bridge. 1214 model number was used later for a different, natural finished model.
    • 1217 (1969-1971) - Flat top (grand concert) - Acoustic flatop - Sunburst - images 11
      Concert sized, with spruce top. Wears the SR logo, replace the previous Silvertone model 621. Later variation in natural finish and number 12172. - (based on Harmony H162)
    • 1212 (1969-1972) - Flat top (grand concert) - Acoustic flatop - Natural - images 18
      Birch guitar of the seventies - wears the Sears & Roebuck SR logo - (based on Harmony H941)
    • 1294 (1970-1972) - Flat top (standard size) - Acoustic flatop - Sunburst - images 36
      distributed by Sears catalog, wears the Sears/Roebuck atomic logo. All birch body. - (based on Harmony H929)
    • 1221 (1970-1972) - Jumbo (Sovereign) - Acoustic flatop - Sunburst - images 33
      Seventies version of the H1260 Harmony Sovereign. Was Silvertone models 633 and 1220 before. (Distributed by Sears catalog but no longer wears the Silvertone brand). The logo on the head reads "SR". - (based on Harmony H1260)
    • 1209 (1970-1975) - Flat top (standard size) - Acoustic flatop - Natural - images 34
      One of the last incarnation of the "Stella" family of standard-sized birch guitars. This one has a screwed-on bridge. - (based on Harmony H931)
    • 1202 (1973) - Flat top (standard size) - Acoustic flatop - Sunburst - images 11
      One of the latest "Stella style" standard size model, finished in 3 tone sunburst, with adjustable bridge. - (based on Harmony H6134)
  • Acoustic flatop 12 string
    • 1227 (1970-1972) - Sears 12 string - Acoustic flatop 12 string - Natural - images 21
      All birch construction - 12 frets neck - Early model have a natural top, later have a "pumpkin-color fnish". Replaced the Silvertone 1226 - Compares to Harmony Stella H912 - The Harmony H1227 model is different (headstock, bridge) - It wears Sears and Roebuck brand, not Silvertone - (based on Harmony H912)
