Brand : Montgomery Wards - (not a brand) M. Wards was a catalog distributor. Later M. Wards used the Airline brand.

Guitars shown below were made by Harmony and sold under the Montgomery Wards brand. It doesn't mean that all Montgomery Wards guitars were made by Harmony.
Montgomery Wards sold guitars in their catalogs, and many of them (before 1955) had no brand on headstock, only a generic logo. From 1955 M. Wards started to use the Airline brand for guitars in their catalog.

These were equivalent to Harmony H51 and are stamped H54 or H8884 (Wards catalog reference : 8384 then 8884). Body depth about 3"1/2. Check also the very similar Silvertone S1320. Some are reported to be stamped H57, but not to be confused with the later model H57 "Roy Smeck", which has a thinner 2"3/4 body. - (based on Harmony H51) |

Cow-boy guitar. "Smooth Trailin" and "Red Foley" stenciled around a cowboy hat. Pin bridge with bone saddle, celluloid bindings on body top edges. Stamped H1076. (Another "Red Foley" was sold by Wards, but made by Richter, with a different stencil showing a cowboy riding a horse by a river in the moutain).
