Stenciled mountain scene with a couple, the guy playing guitar. This H1058 was branded Bob West and distributed by the "Bob West Guitar co." in Chicago, as evidenced in a 1947 catalog. (it looks like the only model specifically branded "Bob West", other guitars in same catalog wears the Harmony brand).

It looks like it replaced the very similar H1105 Stella. Nickeled tailpiece, floating bridge - Body shape changed from the rounded shape to the later "grand concert" shape in 1957. A "warm red" shaded finish replaced the older brown shaded in 1959. Painted on fret markers, snowflake on early models, then rectangles from 1959. Was then replaced in 1967 by the H941 with a pin type bridge.

The H162 has a simple ply binding around body, H1203 has multi-plies binding around body, better woods on the top and a double rosette around soundhole.

This appears to be the very first Harmony electric model, in the '39 or '40 catalog. It was named "spanish electric" to distinguish it from the "hawaiian" electric lap steels. Similar models were proposed as Supertone models 293 and 294 in Sears catlogs 1936 and 1937, with acompanying amplifier.

The 1969 catalog says "CAUTION : It is best not to tune a 12-string guitar as high as regular 6-string guitar pitch. Experienced players recommend tuning three or four half-tones lower, to avoid strain wich might pull up the guitar top or bow the neck".

Some (1935) were produced with gray perloid fretboard and headstock (as was the H1305). During wartime they had wooden pickguard and tailpiece, and downgraded tuners, because of the lack of metal at the time.

H39 has a "Hershey bar" pickup until 1958, with a volume control and cord attached to the pickguard (and a red jack plug...). "Golden" DeArmond pickup is installed in 1959, with usual "internal" tone and volume pots, and jack on body's side. Check also earlier H37 and H38 Hollywood models with black and gold colors.

This model number was seen on a H928 Stella, and on a blue and white "Colorama" with "Harmometal" trim. This Colorama wears the logo of a catalog seller (Montgomery Ward ?) on the headstock.

2 large pickups - H61 Meteor appears in the 1971 catalog. It seems to be the same as the previous H60 Meteor but with new "jazz" tailpiece and a 3 ply (b/w/b) overlay on head, and black trussrod cover. Plastic inlays in f-holes. Curiously, the '71 catalog shows a dot neck but all known samples have block inlays as other Meteor versions. The "Harmony Meteor" logo still appears on the head on the catalog's picture but the known samples only have the "Harmony" logo. (To avoid confusion : H61 model number was also used in the fifties for the 1352 Silvertone archtop cutaway with one P13 pickup). Same model was renumbered H661 from 1972.

H68 - Jazz Artist (1968-1971) - Electric Archtop - Sunburst
2 pickups. Full depth body. This model appears in 1968 after some years without any full size electric archtop in rthe catalog. You may want to compare to H62/H63, but you'll find different pickups and body. H68 pickups are single coils (same as the common double mustache "indox" pickups, but enlarged with an added wooden spacer inside). H68 pickups don't have adjustable screws to balance strings. The H68 has a solid woods body construction. Heavy solid spruce top, solid maple back. It looks like Harmony just added pickups and electronics to the H1310 (and later H6510) acoustic model. Some H68 are seen stamped H1310, some stamped H6510.

Single cutaway 2 pickups, "golden tone" then "double-mustache"- Meteor was H60 with double cutaway and large pickups from 1967. Top were laminated spruce, but it looks like some samples were laminated maple as well. The Meteor was available for left hand players (as H70LH).
H7071 - LP style one pickup (1985) - Electric solid body - Burgundy
Made in Asia (Japan ?). Gibson Les Paul style. Chrome pickup, adjustable neck and bridge, bound neck.
H71 - Meteor (1958-1964) - Electric hollowbody - Blonde
Blonde version of the H70 single cutaway Meteor - produced only untill 1964 - H71 model number was later (1971) used for a different model, with large pickups and Bigsby. Most have a spruce top, but some were made with a maple top.
H71 (1971) - Electric hollowbody - Sunburst
2 large pickups and Bigsby, block inlays, tortoise overlay on head. Hagström adjustable bridge. (H71 model number was previously used for the very different blonde Meteor model). The same model was renumbered H671 in 1972.
H72 (1966-1971) - Electric hollowbody - Burgundy Red
Fender-style headstock, special design "f-holes" - H72V is the model number with Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. 4 ply bindings (wbwb)
H73 - Roy Smeck (1964-1967) - Electric hollowbody - Red
Roy Smeck version of the H74 "half-cutaway" or "neo-cutaway" shape, but with a lower grade body, simple bindings and painted wood. Late models have different pickups with larger housing and black rings. If you buy one from photos, beware that the red appears darker in real life than what we usually see on photos.
H74 - Neo-Cutaway (1961-1967) - Electric hollowbody - Sunburst
Special design "half-cutaway" body, with Bigsby vibrato. Equiped with "Golden-Tone Indox" pickups, with the adjustable polepieces ("double mustache") from 1963.
H75 - 3 pickup (1960-1972) - Electric hollowbody - Sunburst

It looks like the body shape and size was changed, enlarged to a more "classical" design in 1971. Old design is back in 1972 with model number H6137.

All birch, floating bridge and metal tailpiece. This is the updated version of the H927, with a red stenciled rosette, floral design on pickguard and plastic adjustable bridge. (The same H928 model number was used in the fifties for a different Stella, with an ivory and faux-flame finish).
H929 - Stella (1945-1970) - Acoustic flatop - Sunburst, vertical faux flame
Floating bridge and metal tailpiece. It was a very popular model, and variations were sold under many brand name (Sivertone, Regal, Airline, Fender..). The H929 Stella was also available as 3/4 size and tenor, but each with classic glued bridge. In 1959 a "Hawaiian" model exists, with a square neck, open head and metal bridge, for slide playing. During wartime the metal bridge was replaced with a wooden one. White plastic pickguard from 1961.

Early version of the H954 Broadway ? - All birch construction, top grained to ressemble spruce. "Auditorium" size, 8 dots neck. Checkered wood-block marquetry around body top. H955 had not yet the "Broadway" name in the 1940 catalog.
H956 - Montclair (1955-1968) - Acoustic archtop - Black
The black and white acoustic arhtop. Be careful when identifying Montclair models : some important differences, under same name and same model number ! No model had a cutaway, but all models had the "cutaway type" thick white molded pickguard. Evolution : - until 1955 : Two body sizes, 19 frets. H956 "auditorium" (15 3/4) or H956S "Grand Auditorium" (16 5/8). Both have "harmometal" (aluminium) bindings, No trussrod. - 1956 : only H956S "Grand Auditorium" (16 5/8) size was proposed. - 1958 : H956W, "Grand Auditorium" (16 5/8) size with new trussrod neck an 20 frets (one more perloid dot on 15th fret). Still have "Harmometal". - 1959 : H956W, same model but no more harmometal (16 1/2 body), replaced by thick W/B/W plastic bindings. - 1965 to 1968 : later H956 (without suffix, like the older, smaller models), now with block inlays on neck, still has 20 frets.
